Significant career achievements

  • Discovery of Freddie Well Cu/Zn deposit in West Australia (1972).
  • Resolution of the structure of Broken Hill (New South Wales) ore deposits (1976).
  • Setting up and management of major exploration programs in NE Queensland and the Mount Isa inlier (1979-1981).
  • Conceptual discovery of the Greenfield Au deposit in WA – subsequently a profitable open cut mine (1985).
  • Control of technical quality of exploration and mining geology for a large mining group operating throughout Australia, Asia and PNG (1991-1994).
  • Generation of quality exploration projects for gold and base metals in WA, QLD, SA, NT, NSW, PNG, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sarawak, and Sabah.
  • Authorship of internationally published book on the use of geology in mineral exploration and mining.

In the fields of tectonics, structural geology, rock deformation, structural controls of mineralisation and mineral exploration methodology.  Peer reviewed technical publications in: Australian Journal of Earth Sciences (1974), Journal of Geological Education (1974), Australian Geological Survey (BMR & AGSO) (1975), Tectonophysics (1976), Economic Geology (1979) and Precambrian Research (1980).
